Urban Archery - Victorian Indoor Matchplay Invitational

Urban Archery - Victorian Invitational Indoor Matchplay.  This event will give our top archers more exposure to matchplay, using the benefits of a mutual distance/target face size to encourage more heavily contested event.  We will use the State/National Indoor scores to select the participants for this event.

All spectators are welcome to come along and see the best archers in the state shoot off againt each other.  There are special viewing area next to the shooting line to get the best view of the archers in action.

As usual YDA will be running food and drink at the venue from before registration till after the medal rounds are completed.

Ranking
Archers will be seeded using their results from the Indoor State Championships held in July 2025.

Scoring
Scoring format will be World Archery matchplay scoring.

  • Compound will shoot 5 ends of 3 arrows for a maximum score of 150. Inner ten only
  • Recurve, Barebow and Longbow will use the set system

9.3mm arrow size limit for matches.

Target Faces
Compound - 3 Spot Traffic Lights. Open Men’s Compound, Open Women’s Compound, U18 Compound.
Recurve - 3 Spot Traffic Lights. Open Men’s Recurve, Open Women’s Recurve.
Recurve - 40cm Single. U18 Recurve, All Barebow, All Longbow.

To be invited to compete

You will need to have finished with one of the Top 4 point scores at the Victorian State Indoor Championships from the following divisions, as ranked from the July 2025 Indoor State Championships.

  • Open Men’s Compound^
  • Open Men’s Recurve^
  • Open Women’s Compound^
  • Open Women’s Recurve^
  • U18 Recurve*
  • U18 Compound*
  • All Barebow
  • All Longbow

^ Open – Includes U21, Open, Masters, Vets, Vet +

* U18 – Includes U18, U16, U14, U12. Boys and Girls Combined.

  • Competitors can only compete in one division even if they qualify for more than one. Archers who qualify for more than one division may select the division they wish to compete in.
  • If a competitor turns down a spot then the offer moves down to the next highest qualified person , until all 4 archer spots for a division are filled.

The Event

Semi-Finals matches will be 4 up on each target lane, shooting in the AB,CD,CD,AB world archery format with all rounds being shot concurrently. Archers will have no spotter and will score their own arrows.

Bronze Medal matches will be 2 up on each target lane, shooting AB only with all rounds being shot concurrently. Archers will have no spotter and will score their own arrows.

Gold Medal matches will be shot one at a time, shooting AB only with alternating shot clock.  Each archer will need a spotter / scorer as the archer will not be scoring their own arrows.

Due to the limited space in the venue with a full flight and supporter, we ask archers to please setup your gear at your car.
